Deceased: Mr. James Franklin Johnson, 71, of Elkin, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. He was born in Wilkes County on Nov. 8, 1946, to the late Verna Nicholson and Charlie Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Louise Cook; and his brothers, Iva Johnson, George Johnson, Garvey Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Curtis Johnson, and Donald Ray Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Johnson of the home; his brothers, Leff Johnson and wife Teresa of North Wilkesboro, Thomas Johnson and wife Verna of Wilkesboro, and Rex Johnson and wife Judy of North Wilkesboro; also several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Little Stone Mountain Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. OCS: B-1 TBS: D-3

Arceneaux, VF, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, will officiate at the graveside services. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, JoEllen Jones; daughter, Melanie Houghton and her husband Richard Houghton; granddaughter, Mary Eva Houghton; sister, Linda Cuspilich. Preceded in death by his son, David Thomas Jones; parents, Russell Jones and Mary Jones. Mr. Jones honorably served his country in the United States Marines.
