Deceased: Died May 25, 2018 in the hospital in York, PA. In Vietnam, Chuck was a platoon commander with the 1st Light Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion. He taught school and served as a police officer in York, PA briefly before he settled as a life insurance agent and financial planner with the Strickler Agency in Chambersburg for 35 years. Chuck served as a Director of the Chambersburg YMCA for many years.
He was also a member of the Chambersburg Country Club, VFW and Rotary Club. He is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery in York, PA. OCS: C-1 TBS: E-5

Deceased:John David Dave' Sixt June 1, 1941 - September 21, 2019 Rancho Bernardo John David Sixt Dave', 78, passed away on September 21, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania, on June 1, 1941, to Lawrence Frederick Sixt and Doris Louise Updegraff. When Dave was six years old, his family moved to Ohio. In 1959, he graduated from East Liverpool High School in Ohio and in 1964 he received a BS in Microbiology from The Ohio State University. Dave was also a member of The Ohio State Golf Team. While in college, he joined the NASA Astronaut Research Program at the Dayton, Ohio, Air Force Base where he spent six weeks confined in a space capsule for the Aerospace Medical Research Program. Later he received an MBA Degree from National University.Dave married his first wife, Claudia Johns, in 1966, and they had two children, Megan and Chad.In 1964, Dave joined the United States Marine Corps right out of college. He served as a Captain in the Logistics Division during the Vietnam War and received the Vietnam Service Medal and Cross of Gallantry. During his last few years in the Marine Corps, Dave was stationed at Naval Air Base Coronado, where he served aboard the USS Ticonderoga and was also the director of MOWASP, a multi-million-dollar supply operation. He was honorably discharged in 1971.He loved living in San Diego and made that his permanent residence where he took advantage of his formal education in microbiology by joining the pharmaceutical industry as a sales representative for Pfizer, Glaxo, Alza and Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals. He was a district manager and an award-winning salesman.Dave met his second wife, Karen Barron, at Sabinas Restaurant in Rancho Bernardo in 1979. They married thirteen years later on September 19, 1992, adding Thomas and Heather Barron to his family. Dave was a lifelong golfer and member of the Stoneridge, Shadowridge, and Bernardo Heights Country Clubs. He was the winner of many golf tournaments throughout the years, including placing second in the California Senior Amateur Championship. While fighting cancer, Dave would still be seen around the Bernardo Heights clubhouse and course always with a smile on his face and a friendly hello.Dave is survived by his wife, Karen Sixt; children, Megan Hicks, and Chad Sixt; stepchildren, Heather Ryberg and Thomas Barron; grandchildren, Taylor Baloy, Camron Hicks, Austin Hicks, and Rhys Sixt, sisters, Ann Neibert and Eleanor Hall.Dave was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, an excellent golfer, and a genuine friend. Deceased:Lem (Bill) W Surghnor, Jr, 80 years old, born January 15, 1942, passed away peacefully at his home in Fredericksburg, Texas on February 2, 2022. He was with his beloved wife and family during his passing. He was a loving father and husband and an avid traveler. He could often be found driving across the country to visit his children and grandchildren who were very important to him. He enjoyed long drives with his wife while taking in the beautiful scenery along the way. Visiting Fredericksburg was often a favorite pastime. Bill truly loved America. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years, both as enlisted and a commissioned officer, based in Camps Pendleton and Lejune. During his service, he was deployed in combat during the Vietnam War as an artillery officer and served our great nation with honor and courage. Following his military service, his dedicated career included many years' experience in the commercial and personal insurance industry. Early in his career, he spent many years as a co-owner of Johnson-Surghnor Insurance Company in Temple; which is where he met his wife and soulmate of 40 years, Joyce M. Surghnor. After moving from Temple, TX to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, he continued his excellence in the insurance industry until his retirement at the age of 65. The past few years of retirement have been spent happily in Fredericksburg with his loving wife and best friend. You could often find Bill and Joyce at the local coffee shop visiting with friends. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce M. Surghnor; his daughters, Hoi-Anne Surghnor-Loftin and husband, London Surghnor-Wagner and husband, Lezlie Lynn Redden; his sons, Jeff Redden and wife, Craig Redden and wife; as well as numerous grandchildren, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Lem W. Surghnor, Sr. and Dottie Surghnor, both of Belton, Texas. Bill was a committed husband, father, mentor and friend who would never say "no" and would give the shirt off his back to those in need. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Per his wishes, Bill will be cremated with a celebration of his life on Saturday March 26, 2022 from 11:00a.m. - 12:00p.m. at Life Point Church 4501 Hedgecoxe Rd Plano TX 75024 Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of ones choice.
